The Walsh Group Regional Controller/Business Manager in Corona, California

Overview

Walsh is currently seeking a Regional Controller/Business Manager for our Heavy Civil Division in the West Coast Region.

The Regional Controller/Business Manager manages the accounting operations for all of the West Coast Transportation Group, which includes California, Washington, Texas and Arizona and has significant experience in accounting operations in the construction industry. This position will be the right-hand person to the Senior VP of the West Coast Heavy Civil Group as well as work directly with the Regional Vice Presidents in the West Civil Group.

Responsibilities

  • Consolidation of P&L reports for the Western Transportation Group

  • Audits project accounting procedures for the West Region

  • Regular review of issues, overhead, P&Ls, and regional report cards

  • Monitors and manages compliance throughout the West Region

  • Coordinates reviews of job cost reports

  • Visit jobsites frequently to ensure both Walsh and Federal compliance

  • Prepares business plans for the West Coast Heavy Civil Division

  • Represents the company in Owners meetings

  • Demonstrates high level understanding of all Project Accounting functions and GAAP

  • Reviews and budgets overhead cost reports for the Western Region

  • Supervises and manages Regional Accountants in the West Region. Hires, trains and develops staff

  • Provides financial information and support for prequals and new project bids for the West

  • Conduct in depth monthly analysis of owner billings. Ensures accurate revenue projections on all West Region cost reports.

  • Strong understanding of the Company Report Card

  • Develops cash flow reports for West Regional jobs

  • Monitors cash flow and communicates with jobsites on tracking A/R

  • Works closely with the West Regional Sr. VP on budgeting and managing the financial risks and potentials for all of the West projects

  • Assists West Region Sr. VP and regional VPs with business development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or business-related field with 7 - 10 years of accounting or finance experience

  • Previous experience as a Business Manager or Controller in the construction industry is preferred

  • Ability to manage a portfolio of $500M+ Strong understanding of monthly P&L process and ensures timely submittal

  • Strong understanding of the West Coast construction market (California, Washington, Texas and Arizona)
