OVERVIEW
We are currently seeking a Surveyor Manager for our Atlanta Transportation Division, in Atlanta, GA.
The Sr Survey Manager managse, supervises and coordinates project survey operations. They are responsible for providing support to ongoing project production operations with effective, consistent, and reliable construction project controls and guidance in a safe and professional manner. The Sr Survey Manager reviews, purchases, and maintains project survey instrumentation, machine control systems, and field supplies in support of survey and production operations. Hire, train and develop construction surveying personnel responsible for implementing proper survey procedures (computational and operational), related quality control checks, accurate and consistent field reporting, and documentation for future advancement.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide a safe and professional work environment through leadership and actions.
Review project contract requirements and specifications in order to request, review and approve a proposal from an RPLS (Registered Professional Land Surveyor) subcontractor necessary to establish and register a project-specific survey primary and secondary controls network.
Develop and establish control locations, provide and review completion schedule, maintain accuracy and production requirements, process invoices and billings needed for completion of controls network. Establish procedures to maintain, protect, and replace controls network throughout project schedule as needed.
Review project requirements and specifications in order to request and review dealer and supplier proposals and estimates, to recommend project survey instrumentation, machine control systems, and computer software for purchase.
Develop project-specific data libraries and systems for the transfer of contract information, electronic files, models, and calculations. Translate into efficient and effective file formats to support survey managers, field survey operations, and project engineering.
Develop and maintain survey field procedures and protocols, related quality control checks, field reporting procedures for as-built documentation, and organizational and equipment directories for the project survey operations.
Supervise and coordinate the project survey management staff to ensure that all field survey operations are performed with the highest regard for safety, accuracy, quality and professional conduct.
Proactively assist in the discovery and resolution of conflicts concerning contract drawings, design issues and specifications in order to minimize production delays and rework.
Provide support and assist in the preparation of work discipline/trade specific application construction line/lift/pick drawings derived from the contract plans and specifications, or construction operations and procedures.
Oversee all survey, and machine control instrumentation (calibration, maintenance and security) and purchase, repair and upgrade as required.
Provide training and development of construction survey staff skills and knowledge in drawing interpretation, field calculations, proper use of survey equipment and surveying methods, basic survey CAD software and Microsoft Excel. Determine survey staff required for jobs assigned and hire staff as needed. Responsible for discipline and firing of assigned staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education & Certifications Required: Civil Engineer, Construction Technology, or Construction Science Degree.
Minimum 10 years in a responsible Construction Survey Manager position with strong background in surveying fundamentals, and procedures, construction surveying and layout.
General knowledge and experience of construction operations relating to civil/structure field production procedures and field activities.
Knowledge of general civil engineering principles and materials for civil/structure work standards.
Ability to perform and be proficient in geomatics, mathematical and geometrical calculations.
Competent computer skills in a survey or design-oriented CAD software such as Trimble Business Center, Bentley MicroStation, Carlson Civil Suite, or AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel.
Competent computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Office, and Adobe/Bluebeam.
Competent in reading, interpretation, and translation of construction plans, specifications, documents, and shop drawings, and in the development of exhibits, RFI’s, and informational spreadsheets.
Organized with an attention to details, and the ability to multi-task.
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally.
Knowledge of various survey instruments including Trimble, Topcon, Leica, and both Robotic total stations, and GPS RTK rovers.
Must be able to safely traverse the construction site.
Must be available onsite in all weather conditions, climb and work at various heights, and flexible to work any day, early and/or late hours as required.
Must be available to travel.
